Richard Courneyea Death, Cause Of Death –  Prominent businessman and former city mayoral candidate Richard Courneyea has passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 16, 2021.  Richard was a  Tweed native and former councilor in his home village who was owner and operator of the Downtown Belleville clothing store Richard Davis menswear at one time and later founded Signal Brewery and Henry’s Place in Corbyville.

Courneyea was a former member and chair of the BDIA, served as vice-chair of the Belleville Agricultural Society, was chair of the city’s Facade Improvement Committee, helmed as president Bay of Quinte Tourism and was a former president of the Belleville Chamber of Commerce.

He received an award from the Ontario government for restoring former Corby Distillery properties along the Moira River to host his Signal Brewery and Henry’s Place properties.“To honour Richard the flag at city hall has been lowered and will remain so until Friday, the city said. Courneyea is survived by his wife Shawna, children Davis and Destiny and grandchildren Ethan and Cady.
