Slávka Altmanová Death, Cause Of Death – Sad news came from Pilsen before the end of the year. War veteran Slávka Altmanová – Ficková, a participant of the Eastern Front battles, died at the age of 98 years. As a partner, she also participated in the battle at Dukla. She was born on the 8th August 1923 in Semidubey on Volyn to the teacher’s family. Quite a peaceful life in between the wars was stopped by the Soviet occupation of the Polish part of Volyn.

The Fickers were forcibly expelled to another village, however, many were much worse and after marking the bullets they were sent to Siberia. In 1941 the situation changed again and instead of the Soviets, German soldiers occupied Volyn. Fick could return to their native Semidub, where they waited until the liberation of the Red Army. Later, in her twenties, Slávka volunteered to join the Czechoslovak foreign army, served as an associate in units 1.

Artifacts Regiment 1. p.s. independent part time positions 1. p.s. Army Corps in the USSR. It went through bloody battles in Dukle and in eastern Slovakia. She ended the war with the rank of a merchant. Together with her father and other relatives, after 1945 she decided to reemigrate to the homeland of her ancestors to Czechoslovakia. First settled in Chomutov and later in Pilsen. She worked as a dental lab until she retired. She passed away on 23rd. December 2021.
