Julius “Jules” Ray Chavez Death, Cause Of Death – Julius “Jules” Ray Chavez peacefully departed this life on December 31, 2021 at the age of 58 in Salt Lake City, Utah due to COVID-19 complications. Jules was born on January 21, 1963 in Sawmill, Arizona to his mother, the late Pearline Begay and his father, the late Jimmie Chavez. He was placed on the LDS Indian Placement Program in the household of Vera and Ross Duncan Taylor and grew up and graduated from high school in Bicknell, Utah.

Thereafter he served an LDS mission to Roanoke, Virginia and attended Brigham Young University upon returning home. Jules was a member of the collegiate song and dance group the Lamanite Generation. These performances took him all over the world, including Australia, China, Germany, Malaysia, and Japan.

Jules was incredibly talented and knowledgeable in countless areas. He played beautiful classical piano, quickly attaining concert level proficiency. He had a regal and elegant style when participating in many different traditional Native American dances. He loved the theater, working as a cast member at Walt Disney World and lending his talents to the Utah Ballet Company.

He excelled at many traditional Native American arts and crafts such as woodworking, sand painting, painting, drum making, tanning hides, beading, moccasin making, etc. He made many gorgeous items of traditional regalia for friends, family, and clients. Jules also was a master weaver of Navajo rugs, bringing many incredible designs to life.
