Maurice Hamel Death, Cause Of Death – longtime Theater Director  Maurice “Buddy” Hamel has passed away unexpectedly. The Bonner & Prendie community is very saddened to learn about the passing of Maurice Hamel. Buddy Hamel directed 51 musical productions on the Bonner & Prendie campus, beginning in 1980 with The Sound of Music and retiring after Thoroughly Modern Millie in the Fall of 2012. Hamel  cause of death was not made known to the public.

Buddy’s productions included the Archdiocesan premiere of: Shenandoah, Meet Me In St. Louis, Footloose, Crazy for You, Children of Eden, Cats, Les Miserables, and Dames at Sea. Buddy was more than just a director to his students. He was a mentor, a friend, and role model. Buddy introduced hundreds of students to musical theatre. His dedication to the arts inspired all of his students.

Buddy is a recipient of the Monsignor Bonner Medal in the Hall of Fame. The school’s theater program plans to host an event this year to celebrate his legacy on our stage.
