Conway Library Accident, Man charged with OUI

Early Thursday morning, a pickup truck slammed into the front of the Conway Public Library, critically injuring a 21-year-old female passenger. Brooke Barron, of Conway, New Hampshire, was taken to Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Maine Medical Center with critical injuries.

Harold Hill Jr., 31, of Harrison, Maine, was the truck’s driver and sustained non-life threatening injuries. He was charged with aggravated drunk driving and released on his own recognizance.

Conway Police were dispatched to the library at 12:15 a.m. for a report of a vehicle driving off the road and colliding with the structure.

Hill Jr. and Barron were found entrapped in the truck, which had suffered heavy front end damage, when crews arrived.

Two of the library’s brownstone columns collapsed as a result of the impact. While crews investigated, the road was closed for about 3 hours.
