Northwestern Hospital shooting – An officer with a shield and rifle enters Northwestern Hospital in Chicago on a Sunday evening. The call from the alleged perpetrator came from outside the hospital, according to an officer at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The call was made from a landline, according to OEMC records.

According to photos and videos uploaded on social media, a huge number of police officers were observed on Sunday night near Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s flagship campus in Chicago’s Streeterville area.

The Chicago Police Department stated a media mass was set up near St. Clair and Superior streets, but no further details were immediately given. Initially, the police did not disclose any additional information.

At least 39 people have been shot, seven fatally, in weekend violence across Chicago, police said.

A spokeswoman from Northwestern Medicine’s public relations department told NBC 5 that the matter was being investigated and that no information will be released until around 9:15 p.m.
