Two hospitalized following multiple vehicle crash that shuts down I-70E,

Sgt. Matt Ames of the Indiana State Police said that their units are responding to the accident near mile marker 42, close to the Cloverdale Exit.

The incident happened around 12:25 p.m. near mile marker 42 on I-70 westbound, according to Indiana State Police Sgt. Matt Ames. Two passenger cars and a semi truck were involved in the accident.

According to Ames, the semi’s driver failed to see that traffic in front of him had slowed, causing the truck to rear-end a passenger vehicle in the driving lane. The truck then entered the passing lane, colliding with another vehicle before veering into the median and stopping.

As a result, two people from the impacted automobiles were transferred to the Putnam County Hospital. The eastbound lanes of I-70 were shut down this afternoon due to a semi tractor-trailer that had flipped sideways.
